Dr. Theresia Mueni Mutetei is a professional teacher, trainer and mentor, and adjunct lecturer in Human Resource Management at Pan-African Christian University in Kenya, where she teaches, supervises and mentors Masters and PhD students for their dissertations. She has co-authored articles in peer review journals with Professor Elegwa Mukulu and Dr Waiganjo, and she presented a paper in the just concluded second Annual International Conference on Project Management hosted by the University of Nairobi, virtually.
Dr. Mutetei is a consultant in academic and business research in the area of organizational learning and leadership. Theresia is a firm follower of Jesus Christ, a wife and mother to two young adults, a grandmother, and passionate mentor of upcoming professionals in secondary and tertiary institutions.

Through media and socialization, we are often erroneously led to believe that leadership is a quality gifted to a limited few who either have charisma or connections. While we have some great leaders, who have reshaped communities and industries by challenging the status quo, or creating something new, leadership is not about a position or a podium.
In watching others lead we come to believe that we are not enough to make the change. We will sit waiting for instruction. Africa needs us to take a different approach. We must start with ourselves and be part of the solution. We need courage, direction, teamwork, integrity, resource management, forecasting, analytical thinking, and so many other skills to redress our socio-economic position. There is something breath-taking and momentous about coming to stand in your power, unstoppable, confident in your beliefs.
This does not require hours and years of study. Instead, it needs self-awareness of your experiences and interpretation thereof, and an openness to feedback. We need to teach our children to do likewise building a new generation of leaders. Coaches and mentors are great for helping you develop your own leadership signature and brand.
I am purposed to activate the leader within my clients and people who cross my path through my many experiences as a teacher, lecturer, mother, and wife. There is a leader in all of us, but most people are not aware. Leadership is not the domain of what they perceive in the leaders of the world. Leadership is a as private as it is public. It starts within and radiates outward. Embracing the leader in us can change the world, it can make an impact and powerfully move from a small world to a bigger world.
